Phoebe in Wonderland

Okay, so I watched this movie today and I just had to rave about it for a little bit! Phoebe in Wonderland is a gorgeous and heartbreaking movie about a little girl (Elle Fanning!) who struggles with herself and her uncontrollable behavior all the while living in a wonderland sort of world. I don't even think my description does it justice. Just watch it! Please! Its on Netflix and it is WONDERFUL! It is good food for thought. And exceptionally imaginative and intelligent! WATCH IT!

Music Mondays!...Or Rather Tunes Tuesdays!

So just ignore the above picture. Normally I post a fun music pick for Monday's but instead I posted about my leaf preservation process instead of some sick tunes. So...without further ado, Tunes Tuesday!
I don't know if Brooke Waggoner has ever been featured here on the blog, but she is one of my absolute faves! Especially around fall and winter time. And spring. And summer. And all the time actually!
Brooke is a Nashville local and I've had the pleasure of seeing her live a couple of times and she's phenomenal! This song is off her newest album but everyone should definitely go look up her old stuff as well! Enjoy folks!

Pressing Leaves 101

I promised a fall leaf craft and I delivered! I've never pressed leaves before, but after reading about it in one of my Martha Stewart craft books, I knew I wanted to preserve some leaves from the outside of my very first apartment this fall. So here's what I did...
First I gathered a TON of leaves. To the point where my roommate now thinks I may be certifiably crazy. I tried to pick the flattest leaves and tried to avoid leaves that were wet. What you want are leaves that have JUST fallen. Then you sandwich them between paper towels or newspaper.
And stick your leave sandwiches in big heavy books. Harry Potter books and coffee table books work really well! Now, here's the not so fun part--waiting. You need to leave your leaves in the books for about a week to make sure they are fully flattened and dried out.
Once your week is up, you will have lots of pretty, flat leaves just ready to be preserved!
The tools you will need next are an iron and some standard wax paper. You will also need some kraft paper (I just used card stock).
What your going to do is make another sandwich in this order: regular paper, wax paper, leaves, wax paper, and regular paper. The paper is important because it protects your project from the extreme heat of the iron and makes sure it doesn't get too melty.
Next, you are going to iron the paper part on low heat without steam. DO NOT USE A STEAM SETTING! This is going to melt the wax paper around the leaves allowing them to be preserved for the time being. There is no magic time for how long to iron the sheet. You just need to keep checking that the iron is closing the wax paper completely around each leaf if that makes any sense.
And voila! You have some pretty pressed leaves. I cut off the excess wax paper and taped the sheets up to a big window we have in our living room. The pictures don't do it justice, but the sunlight shines through the leaves and makes the colors really pop!
So there's my handy dandy leaf pressing craft for you folks! Now just remember, the leaves won't be preserved forever, but you can enjoy them for this season! Hope you guys try out this little trick and continue to have a wonderful autumnal season!

Girls ARE Squirrels

I just had to share this video with you all, mostly because I haven't been able to share enough squirrel love lately. I've never seen The Sword in the Stone, but I stumbled upon this clip through a youtube squirrel search (I know, I am very unusual). I just adore that darling girl squirrel! Isn't she precious?!

Squirrels have been my favorite animal for a long time now (hence my creative blog title). I don't know what it is about them, but they have always stood out to me. I love their quick movements and their spunky attitudes. Okay, now I think I'm starting to freak you guys out haha. But enjoy the disney throwback. It's pretty precious.

An Outfit Post...wait, I post those?!

I know...its been forever and a day since I've last posted an outfit post on this ole blog! But lo and behold! Here I am coming at ya with some pictures! My friend Fiona (check out her blog here) and I have decided we need to get together and take outfit photos for our blogs. So yesterday during some down time of KTF (Kentucky Thespian Festival) we decided to stroll around campus and take some outfit shots. So here you go folks!

 Outfit Details:
T-shirt- Forever 21
Jacket- Anthropologie
Jeans- New York and Co.
Boots- Steve Madden
I would also like to point out that yesterday was my school's homecoming and I was a rebel who didn't wear a single school color. Am I horrible? Maybe...
Anywho, its good to be back.

And here it is folks...my favorite things I find on tumblr and pinterest. Get inside my head yo! These things are my favorite!
I am in awe of this look. Even though I think I own that sweater. The one that I infamously refer to as "the pumpkin sweater."

I love the National. I love this print. That's all.

I can't help but think this is a print of me. I mean, lets observe...a girl (check), on a bike (check), who wears funky sweaters (check), has rocking cat eye glasses (check), and loves typewriters (check). Well gosh darn it! This is me!
I'm obsessed with this dress from Ruche. Will someone please buy this for me? (That didn't sound desperate right?)
 Frolic! Frolic in the leaves!
 Pies! Very autumnal!
Pretty pretty birdies!

As promised, a little Mumford & Sons to feed everyone's (I'm sure) growing addiction of this new album. At first when I listened to it all the way through, I did NOT like it at all. It was just so different from the old one and I was unsure. I also have a multitude of memories wrapped up in Sigh No More, so it will always hold a special place in my heart. But I just decided to keep listening to it no matter what. And sure enough, its proven to be my favorite fall album this year. So here's the title track from the album for your listening pleasure.

Late Night Pinterest...

I'm convinced that this child is just a mirror reflection of what my very far future daughter will look like. That is all.

A Makeover!

While working on me and Madeline's blog, I've decided it was high time to give my own blog a little face lift. So here it is!
Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend! Mine was swell!

Tunes Tuesday...Ooops!

I forgot to post Music Mondays yesterday...so how about Tunes Tuesday for now? Am I late on the Lumineers obsession or what? I don't care though, they are too good. I can't stop listening to this song! Also, I will admit that the new Mumford & Sons is pretty much the only album I listen to these days. But I'm saving that for another Music post. For now, enjoy a little bit of this sweet music.
