A Few of My Favorite Things!

Well folks, school has officially started back up and I'm a busy bee again. But no worries, you will be hopefully hearing from me more than you did this summer ;) Madeline and I moved into our darling apartment (Which I will have to do a post about soon!) but the only downside is that we have no internet. But have no fear! I will make this blog still work! Anyways, here are a few things I've been loving this week!
Isn't this headband the prettiest! I'm sure it would look lovely for a wedding, I however would try to incorporate it into my everyday life as well!

Has anyone ever heard of Dottie Angel? Well if not go right now and check out her blog! Its so inspiring and lovely. It makes me want to craft 24/7...oh wait...I already do that!
This is one of my favorite movies of all time and I rewatched it last week. Now I can't stop thinking about it! Sometimes I just want my life to be a Wes Anderson movie. Sigh.
Isn't this illustration lovely? It makes me appreciate all the seasons. Who's ready for fall by the way?

This coat. I just can't even...

As everyone knows, I adore Passion Pit. So a friend of mine introduced me to this song witch remixes a Passion Pit. You will love it. Especially if you have a hidden love of hip hop like me ;)

Well folks, hope everyone enjoys a lovely labor day weekend! I'll be back soon with some exciting blogging news!

Green Pants!

Outfit Details:
Shirt: New York and Company
Pants: JcPenny
Sandals: Saltwater Sandals via Modcloth
Glasses: Raybans
I'm officially in love with my kelly green pants. Although I will admit that they are terrible to photograph. They just don't come out the right color on your screen. I love my green pants though. I plan on wearing them throughout the fall and trying to make them more autumnal. Red and green is a risky combo for some because it makes people think of Christmas, but I LOVE the combo! Look for more green and red to come from my future outfits!

All Americana

Outfit Details:
Shirt: Delias
Skirt: Forever 21
Sandals: Saltwater Sandals via Modcloth
Anyone who knows me knows that the fourth of July is my very favorite holiday. So naturally one of my favorite go-to color combos is red, white, and blue.
This outfit was very inspired by all things American. Apple pie, baseball, catching fireflies on a summer night, and any other cheesy summery Americana cliches. Hope you all enjoyed my pretty patriotic look!

Its Dainty June Y'all!

Outfit Details:
Dress: Dainty June
Sandals: Saltwater Sandals via Modcloth
Sorry for the awkward boob picture. I mostly wanted to show off the buttons and the embroidery on the tie haha! This dress is such a wonderful addition to my closet! I got it near the end of the school year in a grab bag from Emerging Thoughts for $25! I love it because it looks like denim, but it is actually a comfy knit material. Perfect for the summer!

A Little Bird Told Me

Outfit Details:
Shirt: Old Navy
Shorts: Charlotte Russe
Sandals: Saltwater Sandals via Modcloth
This may not seem like a super summery outfit, but I've mostly worn this on the cooler nights. Its a perfect look for the transition from summer to fall. The blouse is very light weight and breathable which is nice because its still very humid where I live.
I'm absolutely in love with this blouse and the little birds in the textile! I think I got it on sale and boy was this a great buy! Its so fun and looks great both tucked in shorts or a skirt or just with a pair of jeans.
My tan saltwater sandals rock! I can wear them with everything I can't wear the red ones haha.

The Summer Uniform

Outfit Details:
Tank: Old Navy
Skirt: Target
Sandals: Saltwater Sandals via Modcloth
I'm back with some outfit posts! I know that I've been MIA in the outfit post department, but I do have some explanations (excuses? ehh whatever). As you all know, I've been at camp for most of my summer, so I haven't really been able to wear a lot of my summer clothes. But I thought I'd share with you all for the next few days a couple of my summer outfits that I wear when I'm not at camp.
This is THE summer uniform. I mean, I wear this outfit at least once a week.
Also, I think its safe to say that I am absolutely in love with my saltwater sandals. I go between the red ones and the tan ones that I have. I don't think I've worn them every day this summer outside of camp and they still look brand new!

Well, that's all folks! Stay tuned for a few more summer looks!

A Little DIY For Your Creative Pleasure

So, I don't know about you folks, but I have seen SEVERAL pictures on pinterest of painted furniture, and I wanted to see if I really could do it myself. I love color, so I thought having a painted head board would supply just the right touch to my new bedroom.
I managed to find this metal headboard from a local thrift store. I got it for $20 (what deal!) and knew that it would be perfect for this project. It was super dingy and I didn't like the weird floral print on the knobs and the hearts. But I saw the potential and decided to go for it anyway.
These are the tricks of the trade my friends. The first thing I did was remove all the gross sticky stuff that was on the frame with Goo Gone (which is such a miracle). Then I sanded the entire bed with 120 milled sand paper. I didn't try to sand off the paint, you want to just grind a fine dusting off to prepare the surface for the paint. Then I just taped up the areas I didn't want to paint like the screws and other hardware. The paint I used was Rust-Oleum spray paint in apple red. It should be really durable and adhere to the surface. I just evenly spray painted the entire thing in my back yard and let it dry for a day. I only did one coat with just a few touch ups instead of an entire two coats of paint.
And voila! A painted headboard! I'm pretty proud of this little DIY! It was super easy and has my mind trying to come up with more furniture I can paint haha. Hope you all enjoyed this little DIY!

And For My Next Trick...

I have seen so many beautiful paint chip crafts all over pinterest lately so I decided to try my own hand at it. Last spring Madeline and I saw paint chip banners for sale at a craft sale, but I knew that I should try to make them myself. Thus the paint chip bunting was born...
First what you need to do is measure your paint chip. I chose a page that is 4 inches wide. So you need to measure the half way point and make that the point of triangle. I then drew two connecting lines from the corners to the half way point in pencil (just in case). I recommend doing this on the back of the paint sample because it will make the lines cleaner when you cut it out.
All you do is cut them out and they should all be the same size.

Next you should just hole punch two holes in the corners of the triangle.
Now for connecting the triangles, I chose some neutral colored yarn. Yarn works a lot better than string because the banners won't slip and slide. The fibers of the yarn just grab onto the paper and it won't move around too much.
All you do is thread the yarn through the front of the triangles and its as easy as that!
Now you have a gorgeous paint chip banner!
I cannot WAIT to put this up in my little house with Madeline! Hope you all enjoyed this simple craft tutorial. It's super easy and very very cheap!

A Few of My Favorite Things...

I'm so glad that I'm back to blogging! And now for a few of the things I'm LOVING right now...

Isn't this space so inspirational? Madeline and I will be moving into our first apartment next week, so I'm gathering decorating inspiration! I totally want to recreate this look!

Speaking of our new apartment...I'd be a happy lady if I could fill it to the brim with vintage Pyrex dishes! I'm getting to be obsessed! The bottom picture showcases the two bowls I picked up at a thrift store the other day (and a pretty polka dot scarf as well haha). Aren't they dreamy? Its not a collection like the picture above, but its a start.
Gossip Girl. Seriously, I used to make fun of people for watching this show, but no joke its great! I love the clothes, the stories, New York...its all just wonderful. I finally finished all the seasons only to be completely caught up in post Gossip Girl depression. So much so that I've been watching fan girl videos of Chuck and Blair on youtube and reblogging gifs on tumblr. Yes, I've stooped to that level.

It doesn't help that I'm completely smitten with Ed Westwick. I mean...he's Chuck Bass.

Who's ready for fall fashion? This gal! I've been pinning and reblogging several outfits that I would love to recreate! These are a few of my favorites. I know that my fall wardrobe probably won't see the light of day until October when the temperature lets up a little...but still a girl can dream can't she?

Remember that time that I waited until The Dark Knight Rises to become interested in Batman? Well, true story. While at work (camp), we decided to see the movie on a night off. I of course, walked into that movie knowing nothing about Batman and never seeing any of the movies before. All that to say... I completely fell in love. I've since gone back and watched the other movies in the trilogy and I'm obsessed. I especially loved Anne Hathaway as Cat Woman. (I know the picture is the retro Catwoman, I just thought I'd credit Anne for her wonderful acting. Meow)

I'm also still on a HUGE Kings of Leon kick. Like seriously, who knew that they would make my favorites list after so many years... Give this song a listen though, its worth your while. It will also wish that you were his lover and you were having his baby. But really though.

A Cute as a Button Craft

Today I did a super easy craft that I've been meaning to do all summer. These adorable button initials! I think they'll look great in my house!
As far as supplies go, this is a relatively inexpensive project. I got the wooden initials at Hobby Lobby for $1.99 each and I bought a pack of buttons for $4.99. I glued the buttons onto the initials with a hot glue gun (which did prove to be time consuming). All in all, this was a fun, simple, and inexpensive craft. Now I'll have to think of a creative way to display them in my new home. Yay!

I even made one for Madeline too! I can't wait to show her!

Just thought you all would appreciate some crafty adventures of moi! Go forth and make your own!

Beards Are Sexy

This is pretty much the perfect outfit if you ask me. I mean, Saddle Oxfords? Perfection. That tote bag? Totes perfection.

Music Mondays!!!

So do you ever just sort of forget about how awesome a band is and then years later listen to their album again only to remember how incredible they are. Thus my renewed obsession with Kings of Leon. I mean really, they are just too good. How could you not give this a listen?
